Today, I’ll introduce “Menya Naoto,” a restaurant near JR Kamata Station.

Originally, I had planned to visit the renowned and well-known “Miyamoto” ramen shop, but unfortunately, it was closed on Sundays.

As a result, I decided to stop by “Menya Naoto” on my way back home.

The interior of the restaurant is spacious and clean, with plenty of table seats available.

I chose their signature seaweed-infused dipping noodles. While the restaurant seems to specialize in ramen, they also put effort into their dipping noodles.

Shortly after placing my order, the dish I requested was served.

The thin noodles came with a soy-based dipping sauce that looked quite similar to “Tomonomoto,” another popular dish here. The noodles were soaked in seaweed-infused water, and they had an elegant taste even when eaten on their own. It’s unusual to see the dipping noodles soaking in the broth, and it’s not something you encounter very often.

The noodles were slender and smooth, making them particularly delightful in the summer.

The soup was soy-based, but it had a slightly strong green onion flavor and reminded me more of a Chinese-style broth than the typical dipping noodle broth. It had a dark color and a rich taste, which paired well with the thin noodles and heightened my appetite.

In comparison to “Tomonomoto,” the soup here seemed to emphasize the umami of soy sauce even more.

This could be a point where preferences differ. Personally, I prefer the refined taste of pure soy sauce, so I lean towards “Tomonomoto.”

However, this is a matter of personal taste, and opinions may vary depending on the individual.

Overall, it was a high-quality dipping noodle experience. It was an unplanned visit, but it turned out to be a delightful encounter.

Although “Tomonomoto” has a higher overall level of completion and recognition, “Menya Naoto” is a place where you can still appreciate the depth of dipping noodles.

In terms of location, “Menya Naoto” is more convenient. You can easily get there by taking the Keihin-Tohoku Line from Tokyo Station. On the other hand, getting to “Tomonomoto” might take a little longer.
